Project Engineer – Electrical Design & Automation (m/f/d)
We are looking for a skilled Project Engineer specializing in Electrical Design and Automation to join our team. In this role, you will contribute to the design and implementation of electrical systems for machinery used in precast concrete production, working closely with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and creating electrical schematics using EPLAN Electric P8 for machinery and systems used in the manufacture of precast concrete elements
- Selecting and sizing electrical automation components (power supplies, fuses, controllers, etc.
- Verification of the design against applicable standards and regulations
- Validation of safety-related control components using SISTEMA in accordance with DIN EN 13849
- Technical coordination with internal departments, suppliers and customers
- Planning and management of the general automation aspects of customer projects – also beyond hardware planning
- Drafting of specifications during project implementation and participation in client meetings
- Coordination with internal PLC programming and software development
- Coordination of external partners and suppliers for hardware planning, electrical installation or on-site electrical commissioning
- Collaboration on the further development of internal standards, as well as the creation and maintenance of macros
Key Competencies
- Electrical design & schematic creation (EPLAN Electric P8)
- Component selection and dimensioning (power supplies, protection devices, controllers)
- Standards & compliance mindset (verification against applicable standards and regulations)
- Functional safety validation (SISTEMA, DIN EN 13849)
- Automation concept planning and end-to-end project ownership beyond hardware design
- Cross-functional communication & technical coordination (internal teams, suppliers, customers)
- Requirements engineering & specification drafting; confident participation in customer meetings
- Interface management with PLC programming and software development
- Supplier and subcontractor coordination (hardware planning, installation, commissioning)
- Continuous improvement & standardization (developing internal standards; creating and maintaining macros)
About You
- A degree or qualification as a state-certified technician in electrical engineering, automation technology, mechatronics or a similar qualification
- Excellent knowledge of EPLAN Electric P8
- Good knowledge of standards and regulations relating to electrical and safety engineering
- Knowledge of driving technology, bus systems and pneumatics & hydraulics; ideally also in project planning
- Professional experience in controlling cabinet construction, PLC programming or software development is an advantage
- Communicative, team-oriented and able to work independently
- Fluent in German and English; written and spoken
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Germany and abroad
